Guest Project by Paperiliitin: Paint the Sky with Stars

2018-11-11
Love
Moikka! It’s Riikka here with second last guest project! These last two projects make a pair of some sort. They are similar in ways but yet so different in others. Both of the projects have similar mediums in use but differ in color – the other one is pale and subtle, the other one, as you can see, dark with deep colors. This project is constructed on top of an old book cover. A cover is perfect for this kind of assemblage as it’s sturdy enough to hold the weight of the embellishments and moisture of the mediums. I love to do assemblages as I can then play with different embellishments and...

GUEST PROJECT BY PAPERILIITIN: Dusting off time from butterfly wings

2018-11-11
Love
Bittersweet hello! It’s Riikka here again – this time with my last guest project with this batch of goodies. Like I wrote in the last post, this project and one I shared last one have similarities. Some of the mediums are the same but projects differ in others. What I also tried to show with these two last ones, was the effect of color. A composition looks totally different in black than in white. In this project I used Texture Fantasy paste set called “Old Wall”. The pastes are matt and grainy and give an impression of an old wall or concrete. The set holds three jars, which can be used...

Guest Project by Paperiliitin: Fairy Card

2018-10-13
Love
Syysterveiset – that means autumn greetings! How’s the weather and season in your neck of woods? It’s Riikka here with fifth guest project! This time it’s a really quick and easy one, a fairy card. The inspiration to this came from the beautiful old post card I got inside my box of goodies. I loved the card as it was, but as a crafter I naturally needed to alter it, to make something out of it. So I cut the little fairy out and gave her something else to sit on and changed the look otherwise, too.  Where as I used text from an old book in my previous project, the layout, I now used...

Guest Project by Paperiliitin: Shadow box

2018-09-14
Love
Let them eat cake shadow box  Hiya! It’s me, Riikka, here with my third guest project. This one is most of my style from the projects I’ve shared so far. I enjoy making ATCs as they are my playground and do an art doll every now and then, but I feel most at home with canvases and assemblages. I just love dimensional projects!  I also adore all things vintage – old paper, stained spoons and dented buttons. There’s something wonderful in all of those, the stories they carry. My true passion is old scissors and I absolutely hoard them! But for this little thing I chose a pastry fork to be...

Guest Project by Paperiliitin: Layout

2018-09-14
Love
Hello there! It’s Riikka from Paperiliitin blog here again with another guest project! Have you enjoyed the creations so far? I’ve tried to make different types of projects in order to show how the paper bundles or kits by Paper Garden can be used in various projects and styles.  This time I was really inspired by the old envelope inside the parcel of goodies I got. I really loved the old, vintage white of the envelope but even more I enjoyed the look of the dried adhesive strip. It was such a beautiful combo! I turned the envelope, or rather the inspiration it gave me, into a...

Guest Project by Paperiliitin: A set of postal ATCs

2018-09-03
Love
A set of postal ATCs Moikka! It’s Riikka here again to share another guest project! In my first project I used just a touch of paper for the top of the doll, but this time the project is made entirely out of the lovely papers. I only added some mediums to add some layers in the makes.    The inspiration to these cards came from the lovely postage stamps I had in the box. As a child I used to collect stamps and enjoyed soaking them loose from the envelopes. They are a thing of beauty! There’s usually so much detail in them, they are tiny works of art on their own. To give them a chance to...

Guest Project by Paperiliitin: Tiny Art Doll

2018-08-22
Love
Hello there! It’s Riikka from Paperiliitin blog here today to share my first guest project! Namely I had the privilege and honor to get a lovely box of treasures from Paper Garden and created several projects using the content.  I’m a mixed media influenced crafter. I started scrapbooking almost ten years ago and since then my style has evolved to the mixed media direction. Currently I design for Prima Marketing and also belong to the brand ambassador team of Finnabair, among others.   As this first project I created a tiny little art doll out of a clothes pin. Even though the box was...

How To Create a Collage on Scrapbook Paper

2018-07-28
Love
Do you know the feeling when you’d like to create something but don’t quite know what to do or don’t have much time? Or, worse, feel like it’s too difficult, you don’t believe in yourself. This is a short tutorial, maybe more like an inspiration and reminder, how to create something beautiful without trying too much. I wanted to create something quick and pretty and have fun. So, I picked a photo (of my cousin, permission asked), printed it on thick paper, and started crafting. Here’s how I did it.  First, I’ll list everything I used, and then you can choose and use what you have and what...
